Finding Relief From Chronic Constipation With Zelnorm

If your stool is frequent and loose then it might be an idea to take a break from food and just drink fluids [not tea or coffee] for a day. It is thought that over cooking white or brown rice until it is a pulp is also easy on the digestion. Rice is a very mild food on the bowel, which is why you will find that on any exclusion diet, rice is still allowed. Linseed is also useful in reducing diarrhoea as it acts as sponge by absorbing excess fluid in the bowel.

stay away from spicy or really flavorful foods umm try chaning your fiber intake and if it going to frequently that is your problem try eating more cheese or something that will give you the oposite effect of fiber

yes to stress but only in the sense that when you eat or drink something if you're worried that food may cause you pain or a bowel reaction then the worry itself can cause a gastric reaction. Despite the first answerer having the best intentions I'm sure, dont eat any dairy. Mine isn't as severe as yours, I can eat just about anything in small amounts except for dairy, eggs and bananas. Have you had a food panel done to see what you are sensitive to?

Try cutting out all dairy products.

While stress is not the cause of IBS it certainly "stirs" it up. I always found that particularly stressful situations would invariably cause a flare-up of the disease. My GI doc put me on a food intolerance diet many many years ago to discover which foods were responsible for aggravating my condition. In my case wheat & dairy products were a problem. I also found that spicy foods & gas producing foods (some vegetables) were also a source of irritation for my system. During a flare up foods such as rice & potatoes are particularly soothing for the inflamed bowel - (I had to avoid too much fiber during a flareup as these foods aggravated an already inflamed bowel) I stress that everyone has different food intolerances so it is important to find out what is right and wrong for you. I suggest that you discuss this with your doctor and do some research on your condition. There are many types of IBS ...... ranging from irritable bowel syndrome through to Crohns disease / Ulcerative Colitis. Some of these conditions can be easily managed with diet & lifestyle changes alone while others require medication & constant monitoring by a health care professional. Unfortunately my condition was one of the most severe auto immune conditions, resulting in the loss of my colon several years ago. Good luck, reduce your stress levels as much as possible, become informed and proactive in your health care!!!
