    There's no way to completely "cure" IBS (meaning you wouldn't need to worry about it in the future), but there are ways to help it a lot. Jen gave some good ideas of how to minimize the impact from the foods you eat (mostly eliminating some of the ones that would aggravate it), but there are other things that can help for most types of foods. The first and main thing that I've seen quickly help reduce the impact of IBS is to take a good probiotic complex. Very commonly, people diagnosed with IBS don't have as much of the beneficial bacteria that helps regularity and plays a role in absorbing the nutrients in the intestinal tract. Both my mother and brother have IBS and they have noticed a HUGE difference when they are taking probiotics (and they can easily notice when they haven't taken them for a few days). Second, taking a good digestive enzyme complex can help to break down the food in your stomach more efficiently. This helps a lot of people I have talked with... not as much as the probiotics, but they both help in different ways and can safely be taken together. Aside from that, just watch the foods you eat and try keeping a food diary so you can note what foods tend to give you what kinds of reactions (so you'll know what to stay away from more).     Try to change your diet. IBS can be caused by fruit, soda, milk/cheese, chocolate(caffeine),cigarettes (nicotine products). Tea is low in caffeine and can be used in some cases. All of these might be the problem try limiting these things or cut them out of your diet completely. Some have substitutions like soy milk or lactose free milk can be used instead of milk. Other substitutes can be used to help give you body what you need like vegetables instead of fruit.
