What Is IBS and other FAQ

The nervous system that controls the gastrointestinal organs, as with most other organs, contains both sensory and motor nerves. The sensory nerves continuously sense what is happening within the organ and relay this information to nerves in the organ's wall. From there, information can be relayed to the spinal cord and brain. The information is received and processed in the organ's wall, the spinal cord, or the brain. Then, based on this sensory input and the way the input is processed, commands (responses) are sent to the organ over the motor nerves. Two of the most common motor responses in the intestine are contraction or relaxation of the muscle of the organ and secretion of fluid and/or mucus into the organ. You actually learn more about IBS - Irritable Bowel Syndrome only with more reading on matters pertaining to it. If your stool is frequent and loose then it might be an idea to take a break from food and just drink fluids [not tea or coffee] for a day. It is thought that over cooking white or brown rice until it is a pulp is also easy on the digestion. Rice is a very mild food on the bowel, which is why you will find that on any exclusion diet, rice is still allowed. Linseed is also useful in reducing diarrhoea as it acts as sponge by absorbing excess fluid in the bowel.

Second, exercise is a good way to relieve stress. Many doctors believe that IBS has psychological origins. When a mind is under unusual amounts of stress, it is more prone to mental problems. Mental problems, in turn, lead to physical problems. The symptoms of IBS often begin when a person is exposed to too much stress. Stress has not been proven to cause IBS; but it certainly makes it worse. Because of this, anyone with the syndrome should do his utmost to reduce his stress levels. Exercising, of course, is one of the finest ways to accomplish this. Go and see a gastro intestinal doctor. They will probably give you a medication to help with your symptoms.

IBS is caused by tight back muscles for they press onto the nerves, as they leave the spine, going to the organs to cause problems. Pressure on the nerves going to your stomach will cause it to release more gastric acid which burns your stomach lining. As it goes into your system the rest of your system goes haywire and you get the diarrhea as your body is trying to get rid of the pain the acid is causing. To get rid of the pain you have to free up your back muscles to get the pressure off the nerves and here's how to free them up: Back: (do from a sitting position) Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side. For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

what they talking about IBS isnt stomach aches, it's a lot more complicated than that. in your intestines, there are muscles, what happens is they cramp up. your doctor should have started you on some antispasmodics which will stop the cramping. go back to your doctor and ask for them. you can get over the counter IBS stuff like Buscopan (which i'm on) and they do work by are expensive. i've been on practically all the medications and most worked but stopped. but by far the best thing that works for me, as i have the diorrea and constipation and spasms and pain and gas and practically everything, Imodium Plus. Imodium Plus will control the spasms and the diorrea, (it's expensive but you should try it if you can get it!) Edit_ if your having pains now, try Immodium plus, if you cant get any, try a hot water bottle, spearmint tea (very good for IBS and gas!!) Ginger tea or boiling up some root ginger or adding it to tea and drinking it, this will help a lot aswell. Paracetimol tablets are about the only pain killers that work for my IBS pain, tried all the others, they either dont work or make things worse. also if your prescribed Fiber suppliment ( a poweder you add to water) take a tiny bit to begin with with a little water, this almost sent me to the hospital because of the pain, luckly i only tried a bit. some peopel are fine with it some with IBS arnt, fiber suppliments although there supposed ot help IBS there not good for peopel with IBS.
