    chew your food properly. The enzymes that break down food can only break down the food it touches. If you swallow big pieces, it won't digest properly. Also keep a journal of the foods you eat. You can find certain foods may trigger it, try to avoid those foods. Also exercise.

    I use colofac(mebeverine) Three times a day. Take plenty of fibre. Try to identify foods that irritate your condition. Try to avoid too much stress.

    There is no cure for IBS. I have had it for years and tried so many medications but to no avial, but perhaps thats just me. I do have Weetabix every morning now which has really helped me but I still get it every few days but not to the extent I have in the past. Popular treatments are: Peppermint oil capsules, Aloe Vera Juice, Buscupan, Spasmodal, Merbentyl. Things from the health shop are just as beneficial as meds so try giving them ago. Prunes are good for constipation especially if you have them with yoghurt. Try not to eat anything that it seedy or pippy ie, rasberrys or buns with seeds on, strawberrys, as these do not get broken down properly and will just aggrevate your bowels. Hope this helps.

    hi eating a healthy diet, dont go too long without food as you get full of wind, dont over eat as that can make you feel worse, try not to get stressed about things, easier said than done. i think you can learn if you listen to your own body to control the symptoms of ibs, everyone is different so what works for someone else may not work for you, good luck

    I've had IBS for 12 years now, so i've tried many different medications. Stay away from the internet "miracle cures" they just get your hopes up and let you down. It's difficult living with IBS, but i'll tell you what helped me, like i said i've had it for 12 years now so i've had time to adjust. 1) Eliminate fried foods (if it's too hard, do it slowly, ease off on all fried foods it'll help IMMENSLY) ** elminate coffee and carbonated bevareages (they're unhealthy anyways, and they cause bowel flare ups) 2) Soluble fiber. This is very important. Many people feel that soluble fiber is a laxative. THis is not true. If you have IBS with diarrhea, fiber supplements will help add Bulk, making bowel movements less irritating, and more full. If you have consipation, fiber will help coat the walls of the intestines and make it easier to have a bowel movement. (citrucel and metamucil are two very popular ones) 3) This is something i just started doing recently that i found to be reallly really helpful. There is an amino acid called L-Glutamine. It's best to take in powder form. I found that after a week of supplementing with this, that i felt incredibly better. I had surgery on my tonsils, and i had to stop taking all supplements, and when i stopped taking it, i noticed that my symptoms worsened. Search online for Glutamine AND IBS, and do some reading about people who have benefited from GLUTAMINE 4) you need to workout/exercise. Stress was the biggest trigger for my IBS, it killed me. I began to workout as much as i could in a week. I was a happier person because i could control my stress, and my IBS began to improve. When i lost some weight (mostly fat) i began to feel better overall, and my improved spirits helped to deal with IBS. 5) If you have the willpower, reallly take the time to alter your diet. Since i've been diagnosed 12 years ago, i've always thought of IBS as an excuse to eat healthy. If you see something unhealthy (fried foods, sugary foods, Carbonated beverages, etc) jsut remeber what symptoms you're going to have, remember how bad you will feel, and then eat something healthier instead. There is no cure for IBS, so time to start getting comfortable with it, you'll learn as you go ways to help control it, but try what i suggested. I'm not a doctor, but I just suggest through experience.
